For years, I worried about getting older. Would I be healthy? Would I be able to live alone? Would I be a burden to my family? Would I spend all of my time alone? I spent so much time worrying about what might happen, I completely forgot to plan for the inevitable.
Then I attended a conference at my church for aging adults. They talked about everything from senior housing options to prepaying for funeral arrangements. I left determined to make as many arrangements for myself as I could in advance. One by one, as I checked each item off my to-do list, I felt my worries dissipate as well. Because I had planned as best I could for my future, I was finally able to enjoy the present.
Turns out, they call them the golden years for a reason! Though I am not in perfect health, and I certainly don’t live a lifestyle of luxury, I am happy about aging! With a little bit of planning and preparation, you can be too!
